🏡 Roof Renovation at Quinta dos Cozinheiros: Preserving History with Every Tile
At Quinta dos Cozinheiros, we believe history isn’t just something to be remembered – it’s something to live in, preserve, and build upon. That’s why our recent roof renovation project wasn’t just a construction update – it was a true labor of love.
A Heritage Worth Saving
The original terracotta tiles of our historic home had endured decades of Portuguese sun, storms, and stories. While time had left its marks, it also added beauty – which made us determined not to replace, but to restore.
As seen in the early phases of the project, we carefully removed and salvaged hundreds of original clay tiles – stacking them with care (and a bit of pride). Each tile carries a chapter of the Quinta’s story, and we knew they deserved another chance to shine.

Behind the Scenes: A Roof Reborn
The process was anything but simple. With scaffolding up and a towering crane in place, the structure was carefully deconstructed – a delicate operation that revealed just how much craftsmanship had gone into the original build.
Then came the heavy lifting: reinforcing the timber framework, inspecting every beam, and beginning the rebuild with a mix of preserved and new handmade tiles.

The Final Reveal
And now? The roof is finished – and we couldn’t be happier. The result is a perfect blend of authentic character and modern craftsmanship, restoring not just the building, but our pride in it.
The deep red tiles shine in the sunset once more, and the roof stands strong enough for another century of stories.

Why This Matters
Renovating Quinta dos Cozinheiros is not just about upgrades – it’s about honoring heritage while building something sustainable and beautiful for the future.
This roof renovation is just one step in a much larger vision. From vineyard rows to restored architecture, our mission is to breathe life back into a place where tradition meets nature – and to invite others to experience it, one weekend at a time.
