Quinta dos Cozinheiros is a historic Portuguese Quinta in Matas, near Marinha das Ondas and within reach of Figueira da Foz and the Atlantic coast. We are restoring the property slowly and carefully, with future B&B houses, the Casa da Piscina and a small number of possible holiday homes forming part of the longer story.

Esta diferença é importante. Quem procura alojamento perto da Figueira da Foz pode querer chegar facilmente à costa sem ficar numa zona hoteleira urbana. Outros poderão estar a viajar pelo Centro de Portugal e procurar um lugar com mais terreno, caráter local e um ambiente mais tranquilo.
A Quinta está a ganhar forma em torno desta ideia: uma base rural com história própria, mantendo a costa e a Figueira da Foz como parte da região envolvente.

A future B&B a ganhar forma

O plano para a Quinta dos Cozinheiros começa com six future B&B houses and the Casa da Piscina.
The six B&B houses are still plans. Their final layouts, individual facilities, capacity, prices and opening dates have not yet been confirmed. They are being developed as part of the wider restoration rather than as a finished hotel complex.
The Casa da Piscina está numa fase mais avançada. Está a ser preparada como a primeira casa de férias independente da Quinta, junto à piscina cuja construção já está concluída.
First stays are currently aimed for 2027, but this is a target rather than a guaranteed opening date.
A small number of additional independent holiday homes may follow in later phases. These are future possibilities, not accommodation that can be booked today.
This is a real property being restored one part at a time. Confirmed details will be published when the spaces themselves are ready.
Why stay near Figueira da Foz?
For the people who want both.
There is no single right answer to where to stay near Figueira da Foz. For some visitors, being directly in town is the priority. For others, the appeal lies in combining the Figueira da Foz coast with a quieter piece of rural Portugal.
Quinta dos Cozinheiros is being developed for the second kind of stay.
The setting is part of the experience: old buildings, open land, vines already growing on the property, tiled roofs and the traces of a Portuguese Quinta that existed long before the idea of guest accommodation began.
For people planning a Central Portugal road trip, looking for countryside accommodation near Figueira da Foz, or simply preferring a peaceful rural setting near the Atlantic coast, that difference may eventually be the reason to stay here.
But “eventually” matters. The Quinta is not open for overnight stays yet.

What already exists — and what is still planned.

The main house, old walls, tiled roofs, land, vines and original architectural details form the existing setting.
Work on the roof, veranda and other parts of the property is documented in the restoration journal.
The pool and surrounding terrace are finished. It is not currently an open public or guest facility because accommodation has not opened.

The character of Quinta dos Cozinheiros
Old walls. New chapters. No generic hotel story.
The restoration journal shows the process without skipping to the finished result. In the latest veranda chapter, the new cover is already changing the façade while scaffolding and unfinished work remain visible.
That honesty is important to the identity of the Quinta. We want future accommodation to belong to the property rather than feel dropped into it. That means allowing the project to develop slowly enough for old and new to sit comfortably together.
The longer-term vision extends beyond places to sleep. The existing vines are part of the land, and making our own wine is a future ambition. A restaurant, bar, yoga and retreat space, a strength and movement area and places for gatherings are also ideas within the broader project.
None of those are currently bookable experiences. We describe them because they explain where the property may be heading, not because we want to present future ideas as finished amenities.

Is Quinta dos Cozinheiros already open?
No. Quinta dos Cozinheiros is still being restored and is not operating as guest accommodation yet.
Can I book a stay now?
No. Reservations, payments and deposits are not being accepted. There are currently no bookable dates or confirmed nightly rates.

The current plan begins with six future B&B houses and the Casa da Piscina. The Casa da Piscina is being prepared as the first independent holiday home. A small number of additional holiday homes may follow later.
Will there be a swimming pool?
The swimming pool construction is already complete. It is not currently open as a guest facility because the Quinta has not opened for accommodation. Once stays begin, the current plan is for the pool to be shared by staying guests at agreed times.
When will bookings open?
There is no confirmed date. First stays are aimed for 2027, but this remains a target rather than a guaranteed opening date. Booking will only open after the relevant accommodation, facilities, prices and policies have been confirmed.
