Who is responsible?

The Quinta is being restored. This website currently shares our plans and journal; reservations and online payments are not open.

Information you choose to share

  • Email enquiries: we use your email address, name and message to answer you. The basis is our legitimate interest in responding to ordinary enquiries, or steps you request before a possible contract. We keep resolved ordinary enquiries for no more than two years after the last contact, unless a legal obligation or dispute requires longer retention.
  • Journal subscriptions: Jetpack/WordPress.com processes your email address and subscription choices to send the updates you request. This is based on consent. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email. Subscription information is kept while you subscribe; limited records may remain where needed to honour an unsubscribe request or legal obligation.
  • Comments: the form collects your comment, name and email address, and an optional website address. Your name and comment are public; your email address is not displayed. You do not need a WordPress account. We process comments on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a moderated journal. Comments remain with the article unless removed; contact us to request removal. Technical information, including IP address and browser details, may be checked by Akismet for spam prevention.

Cookies and optional services

Necessary storage supports the website, security and your privacy choices. Optional statistics and embedded content require your consent. You can reject optional cookies and still read the website. Use the floating cookie-settings button to review or withdraw consent at any time. Your consent choice is remembered for 30 days.

  • Statistics: Google Analytics and Jetpack statistics help us understand visits and improve the website. They can process device/browser details, visited pages and technical identifiers. Google Analytics cookies such as _ga can last up to two years, depending on browser and service settings.
  • Map links: the contact page links to Google Maps instead of loading a map automatically. If you follow the link, Google receives the information associated with your visit under its own privacy policy.
  • Comment convenience: if you choose the comment form’s “save my details” option, your browser can remember those details for a later comment. This is optional.

Withdrawing consent stops future optional use; it does not undo processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You can also remove previously stored cookies through your browser settings.

Providers and international processing

Our site uses WordPress.com/Automattic for hosting and Jetpack features, Akismet for comment spam checks, Wordfence for security, Google for analytics, maps and web fonts, and Microsoft Outlook for email. Necessary requests for hosting, security and fonts can transmit technical information such as IP addresses. Access is limited to what is needed to provide and protect these services. We do not sell your personal information.

Some providers process information outside the European Economic Area. Their privacy information explains applicable safeguards, including adequacy decisions and contractual safeguards where relevant: Automattic visitor privacy, Google privacy, Wordfence privacy and Microsoft privacy. Contact us for questions about the providers used for your information.

Security and service logs are retained according to their purpose and the relevant provider’s settings and obligations. We do not retain enquiry information indefinitely just because it was emailed to us.

Your rights

Subject to applicable conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Email the address above; we may need proportionate information to verify your identity and normally respond within one month. You may also complain to Portugal’s Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

Changes to this notice

We will update this page when our services or data practices change, including before reservations or payments become available. The date above identifies the current version.
